On Thursday 13 February 2025, the Tollerton Neighbourhood Plan was approved by a large majority of the residents who voted in our local referendum. The plan was then formally adopted by Rushcliffe Borough Council, so we have a plan to cover us until 2030.
So, what does this mean for the village?

Shaping the Future of Our Village
Tollerton is a vibrant, evolving village with a strong sense of community and a shared vision for its future. At the heart of this vision is Tollerton’s Neighbourhood Plan, a strategic document created by residents, for residents. The plan outlines the priorities, aspirations, and key areas of focus that will help guide decision-making and development in the village for years to come. But what exactly is the Neighbourhood Plan, how can we use it, and what does it mean for the future of Tollerton?
What Is Tollerton’s Neighbourhood Plan?
The Neighbourhood Plan is a framework designed to protect and enhance what makes Tollerton special while ensuring the village adapts to changing needs. It is based on input from residents and covers a range of topics, including:
- Housing and Development – ensuring any new developments align with the village’s character and needs.
- Green Spaces and the Environment – protecting natural areas, encouraging biodiversity, and improving access to open spaces.
- Transport and Infrastructure – addressing traffic concerns, improving public transport links, and enhancing road safety.
- Neighbourhood Facilities and Services – strengthening local amenities, including the Air Hostess pub, the church sites, and recreational spaces.
- Local Economy and Business – supporting small businesses.
It is a living document, meaning it will evolve with community input and changing circumstances.

How will we use it?
The Neighbourhood Plan along with the Parish Plan, is a practical tool that residents, businesses, and decision-makers will use to influence the future of Tollerton. Here’s how:
• Guiding Planning Decisions: The plan ensures that any proposed developments align with the needs and expectations of the village. The Parish Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council will have to take the plan into account when it is reviewing planning applications.
• Shaping Local Services: By identifying key priorities, the plan will help ensure that facilities, transport, and infrastructure developments meet the needs of residents.
• Securing Funding: Local projects and improvements often require funding, and having a clear, community-backed plan will make it easier to secure grants and investment.
• Encouraging Resident Involvement: The plan gives everyone a voice in shaping the village’s future. Residents can use it to suggest improvements, propose initiatives, and get involved in neighbourhoodprojects.
